It was the spring of '89 and I was in 6th grade. Many who know me realize I'm quite the prolific songwriter, if not the most competent. In this year, I cowrote with Tom Simons the song, "Na Na Hey Hey [Freddy Kills]."
It's fortunate for me that Bowie isn't the owner of the song rights, as it bears an uncanny similarity to "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye." But I digress.
With what has been coined the "Paying of Bin Laden," I was amused to see crowds singing this song in the spirit of good riddance.
