Poll Finds 41% Wish Obama Was a Muslim

You have likely heard the recent news from the Pew Research Center that reports 18% of Americans believe President Obama is a Muslim, up from a not-too-shabby 11% back in March 2009. The poll also reports that only 34% correctly identified President Obama as a Christian, down from 48% a little more than a year ago.

Pfft, Science! decided to push this question one step farther and ask a random sampling of Americans:

Nevermind what President Obama's true religious affiliation is. Would you prefer it if he were a Muslim?

What we found is that given the choice, 41% of Americans would like President Obama to be a Muslim.

One response we received from Ohio was, "Considering the amount of coverage that Reverend Wright thing got, I'd have to be a complete fucking idiot to actually believe that the President is a Muslim. I mean I'd have to be really stupid, wouldn't I? But boy would it be nice if it were true. I can't stand Muslims and I can't stand Obama. It would be so convenient."

Another response from Alabama was, "I've heard Obama say he's a Christian and don't really believe in some conspiracy he isn't. But he's like all the other liberals in this country that have zero qualms letting a baby be 90% born and then shoving a needle into it's spine. It'd be nice if we could peg Obama not only as a bloodthirsty baby-killer, but also as a Muslim."

Finally, Arizona didn't let us down in representing. One person polled said, "How awesome would it be if we go beyond saying Obama sucks, but also compare Obama to a Mexican - not born here, not Christian! It would be great if we could say Obama oughta go back to Kenya and worship Mohammad and Bin Laden with the rest of those people over there. I mean I know we can still say that, but the Muslim part is patently untrue, unfortunately."

R3: Rap, RPGs and Respect

In the way that a veteran rap mogul might feel he never got proper respect when he doesn’t get paid ample kind words by some kid nobody rapper he brought up through the rites of passage, I always felt that I never got proper respect for my way of posting XP on the boards in some games I’d run. (Note, I also didn’t think I got proper respect for changing the lyrics during karaoke at Club 23… :-/).

Anyway, when I’d post everyone’s XP for a session, I’d headline the post with an image of Jimmy Hendrix’s juggernaut album “Are You Experienced?” I don’t remember ever getting a comment like “Nice!” or “Haha, Wester, funny connection.” Very disappointing…almost as if it's just expected for this level of entertainment to be thrown out like candy from a firetruck in a parade.
