There is a minor story floating around about a guy who beat up a Black mother at a Cracker Barrel in Georgia after nearly hitting the woman's daughter with the restaurant's door and yelling some racial slurs. The assault has led to some talk among state lawmakers to consider pushing for a Georgia Hate Crime Law.
State Senator Gail Buckner said, "It's past time, but there again, Georgia seems to be kind of at the end of coming on board with things that are of a progressive mode."
The people of Georgia should be outraged that the Senator would say this! How is this different than when President Obama admitted he thinks America has been arrogant? (See text of a related email below.)
Is there any other way to interpret Senator Buckner's (or President Obama's) statement in any other light than one that proves her true colors? Clearly she hates America, is embarrassed of her country, thinks this country sucks, and therefore should move to Canada!!!
This is an email I received recently. The world thanks the U.S. soldiers who died on foreign battlefields. But this hardly means that everything the U.S. has done since the 40s is immune to criticism. Obama wasn't saying the U.S. sucks - and I don't think the brunt of Europe was either - rather that there is room for us to take a less arrogant attitude about certain things. These sort of reactionary mass emails usually have a straw-man take on things.

Subject: ARE WE ARROGANT?
Thank God that someone has taken the time to put this together – and remind them that nearly 300,000 of our war dead were repatriated after the wars.
Families, at their own very considerable expense, brought the bodies of their sons and daughters home throughout the 50’s and 60’s – so the numbers represented, while they are sobering, reflect less than 25% of the total number of Americans who gave their lives in defense of Europeans who thereafter judged them most unkindly.
Our President has called us arrogant; he has shamed us and cowed us before the world. Our President has apologized for the exceptionality we Americans never wanted; he has bowed before Muslim kings, but allows those that bend their knees before Christ to be vilified and branded as radicals. When Europe’s ruling elite call Americans arrogant, remind them that the only claims to any foreign land the American Soldier has ever made are represented below:
In alphabetical order, just in Europe, note this:
1. The American Cemetery at Aisne-Marne, France . A total of 2289 of our military dead.
We Apologize?
2. The American Cemetery at Ardennes, Belgium . A total of 5329 of our dead.
We are arrogant?
3. The American Cemetery at Brittany, France. A total of 4410 of our military dead.
Excuse me?
4. Brookwood , England American Cemetery. A total of 468 of our dead.
5. Cambridge , England . 3812 of our military dead.
6. Epinal , France American Cemetery. A total of 5525 of our Military dead.
7. Flanders Field, Belgium . A total of 368 of our military graves.
8. Florence , Italy. A total of 4402 of our military dead.
9. Henri-Chapelle , Belgium . A total of 7992 of our military dead.
10. Lorraine , France. A total of 10,489 of our military dead.
11. Luxembourg , Luxembourg . A total of 5076 of our military dead.
12. Meuse-Argonne. A total of 14,246 of our military dead.
13. Netherlands , Netherlands . A total of 8301 of our military dead.
14. Normandy, France . A total of 9387 of our military dead.
15. Oise-Aisne, France . A total of 6012 of our military dead.
16. Rhone, France. A total of 861 of our military dead.
17. Sicily, Italy. A total of 7861 of our military dead.
18. Somme, France . A total of 1844 of our military dead.
19. St. Mihiel, France . A total of 4153 of our military dead.
20. Suresnes, France . a total of 1541 of our military dead.
Apologize to no one. Remind those of our sacrifice and don't confuse arrogance with leadership. As Americans, let's all look forward to the next elections - to find a President who doesn't think we need to be ashamed.
