thez0rk and I were having a little fun talking about this subject. As we've all seen the last few elections, the media (which is Liberal, of course) has christened Dems as blue staters and Republicans as red, which is actually quite appropriate when we look at the Star Wars mythology.
Karl Rove once went on record stating that, "When I went to work as an advisor for George W. Bush in 1978 to win a seat in the Texas Congress, the first lightsaber I constructed was red. I had just seen A New Hope the year before and really liked Darth Vader's lightsaber. Plus I identified with Vader in other ways."
As for the third parties, Libertarians get purple lightsabers, and Greens use, well, green lightsabers.
