I was shocked some years ago when I did a google search and there were no results linking the Vistani of Ravenloft and cultural icon, Cher. Now that I wield considerable web power, we no longer have to live in that kind of world.
I've often wondered if Madame Vistani, with her dark eyes, mystique and Bohemian lifestyle, was meant by the Ravenloft writers as a tribute to Cher. The parallels are uncanny. For instance, the Vistani drive their caravans endlessly through the mists of the Domain of Dread, which if you think about it is not unlike a certain multiplatinum recording artist on her many world tours.
